Charlotte Trout Williamsport High School Williamsport, Maryland Merging the tailgating and blood alcohol concentration models By adding the effect of blood alcohol concentration (BAC) on reaction time to the tailgating model, we are able to see the increase in likelihood of a collision. A STELLA model of the Kinematics of Tailgating with a slider added for BAC This graph shows 2 cars going 65 mph, starting 4 car lengths apart, but .01 BAC slows reaction time to .51 and there is a collision at 12.5 mph
