Substation 0 Phosphorus

What a big difference between the previous graph (nitrogen) and the upper one on this page (phosphorus)! Why is the change in the opposite direction here?

Again, the only variation in phosphorus concentration coincides with over 1 inch of rain. Why is the amount of phosphorus in the runoff increasing faster than the amount of runoff?

Note, through, that the actual concentration of phosphates is a factor of 10 less than nitrates.

Now we'll look at station 1, which is forested land at the headwaters where clearcutting has occurred. Selecting phosphorus over a year for station 1 for the bottom display will allow comparison with station 0.
