Our research and prototyping encompass both the use of on line simulations as cognitive tools, as well the implementation of scaffolding opportunities inherent in the classroom context. We are evolving a pedagogic framework to inform the evaluation of the success of the simulator in enhancing individual and peergroup learning, both in a single classroom, and eventually, a distributed, Internet-mediated community of learners.
