Two Blair Magnet Teams travelled to Pittsburgh in August for the annual Teragrid programming contest. After a full day of programming challenges involving using numeric integration and optimization to solve orbital navigation problems, parallelizing a solution to the Traveling Salesperson Problem, benchmarking high performance machines, and calculating future costs and speeds of supercomputers, the team consisting of Jacob Hurwitz, David Kaufman, Lori Kaufman, and Charlie Pasternak placed first in the high school division.
